oh, the hu-mi-di-ty

There’s no doubt about it, Reader - July has come to Virginia full force.

Know what that means?

Yes, yes, July 4th weekend.

And yes, that too - the Loudoun County Fair.

But also - and this is not as fun - humidity.

July is here, and the humidity is suffocating.

And because humidity = moisture = sneaky opportunities for mold to grow, we’ve gathered a few tips to help you keep moisture at bay this summer.

Don’t forget to:

✅ Maintain healthy airflow

✅ Pull out the dehumidifier

✅ Find and fix any leaks (our free home walkthrough checklist will help you know where to look)

Keeping air moving and humidity down will help mitigate potential mold, because mold only needs three things to grow:

  1. oxygen,
  2. a food source (paper, dirt, dust, etc.),
  3. and yep - you guessed it - moisture.

If you’re concerned you might have mold growing in your home - even if you’re not quite sure - now’s the perfect time to give us a call.

We’re offering ⭐ FREE mold inspections ⭐ for the entire month of July.

>> Hit reply or call/text us at (703) 665-1129 to book your free mold inspection before 7/31.* <<

Gray shirt

A few years ago, I switched the color of Umpire’s t-shirts to improve our communication. Spoiler alert: it worked. Here’s what happened. 👕👕👕 When Umpire was first getting started, our uniform was black t-shirts with our logo on the front. This felt like a good compromise between professional and comfortable, as far as uniforms go. (Wearing khakis and collared shirts to clean up a flooded basement like Those Other Guys just didn’t seem very practical.) The black t-shirt choice seemed like a...

Moisture check

Raise your hand if you’ve ever found mold in the house. ✋👀 Now raise your hand if you successfully got rid of it. . . . ✋👀 . . . . . . . . . . . . now raise your hand if you’re absolutely positive you successfully got rid of it. 👀 🤷🏻♂️😬 When it comes to finding mold in your home - and removing it for good - sometimes the most dangerous part is assuming we have all the information. The truth is, if mold has oxygen, a food source (like dirt or dust), and moisture, that’s everything it needs to...
