1997 blue sedan

Denise’s husband was a little bit skeptical that we’d be able to get rid of the cigarette smell emanating from his new (to him) 1997 Toyota Celica.

“I mean, it’s an old car. It’s 25 years old - it’s that old car smell, right?”

Yep.

When I went to give the car our odor removal + disinfection service, he raised his eyebrows.

“I mean…is the smell gonna come back?”

I get it. Cigarette odor is hard to get rid of. And decades-old cigarette odor? In a vehicle from the 90s? No chance, most of us think.

But ever since that car received our treatment, Denise’s husband’s eyebrows have been singing a different tune.

“The smell hasn’t come back!” Denise recently told us, an entire year after we treated their car.

That’s what we like to hear!

At Umpire, our main focus is folks like Denise and her husband - folks like you, Reader.

When you have a problem we can help with, we listen. We take note.

Which is why we’re excited to officially launch our new odor removal + disinfection service.

This solution is perfect for smelly situations like:

✅ pet presents 💩

✅ post-illness disinfection 😷

✅ stubborn cigarette smoke 🚬

✅ surprise critter visits (skunk season, we see you 👀)

Here’s how it works:

  1. You call us
  2. We schedule a time to come out to your home, usually within a day or two
  3. Using professional equipment like UV-C air scrubbers, hydroxyl generators, and cold foggers, we remove and neutralize the source so smells and germs are eliminated.

People-friendly and pet-safe, it’s a deep-breath gift that keeps on giving.

Thanks, Denise. 🩵

PS Did you know that June is National Homeownership Month? We get a lot of questions about insurance on all of our service calls, but there’s one piece of advice that never changes: when you can, use a local agent. They’ll take good care of you. 👍

You smell it before you know what it is: That strong, musky odor that just won’t go away. You’d say it smells like propane gas . . . except you don’t use propane. It’s not until you hear the rustling noises coming from under the deck that you realize: You’ve got a skunk situation. 🦨 Early spring is the prime season for skunks to move into your house - and sneaky spots like under the deck, inside tight crawl spaces, and in the garage (!!) are some of their favorites. To make sure you, your...

Dad Whitesuit

My father started a water damage restoration business in 1962: Here's Dad in the mid-1960s - he would've been about 30 years old here. His 8 siblings knew him as Bobby, but everyone else called him Bob. That meant my weekends and summers as a kid were spent helping him on job sites. I didn’t just learn about water damage and restoration; I learned what it meant to truly help people. I’ve never been a corporate salesperson, but working with people is something that’s always made sense to me....

Quick Loom

I know what you’re thinking, but don’t worry: This isn’t another New Year’s resolutions email. No; instead we’ll call it a “prepare my home for 2025” email. Or a “keep my family happy and healthy in the new year” email. I recorded a short Happy New Year message for you (<1 minute) to say hello and share a special free resource for keeping your home safe from water, fire, and mold damage in 2025. (In it, you'll also get to see my dog, Alpha - the unofficial mascot of the Umpire team!) Click...
